West Midlands counter-terror chiefs are investigating after the 23-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night.
Police said there was no suggestion ‘at this stage’ the reserve centre, in Birmingham Road, was under threat.
The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
The incident came just hours before a car was driven into worshippers outside a mosque in London, leaving one dead and 10 injured.
Martin Evans, Assistant Chief Constable at West Mercia Police, said: “On identifying the man our officers took prompt action to contain the threat and take him into custody.
